I tailor my lessons to each students' individual needs. I have found the Hal Leonard Beginner Guitar Method Book to be a great introduction to guitar. I also create charts and diagrams tailored to the interests of my specific students. I teach my students how to read and write their own music. They can also work on solo pieces that would be appropriate for recital performances. For bass guitar, I would take a slightly different approachit's less focused on learning songs from a book and more about learning the layout of the instrument (parts of the bass, how to tune, etc.) and good technique with some basic music theory.
