My specialty is Rock music. It's my passion, my love and my lifestyle. To learn Rock really well, I also cover the basics of some different styles that I believe are important to know such as Blues, Jazz, Classical and Metal. I believe a musician needs to be versatile and open-minded in order to progress and become fluent in the instrument. These are some of the music theory and techniques I teach: Scales - Major and minor modes ( Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian and Locrian) Pentatonic Scales - Harmonic minor and Melodic Minor among other exotic scales Chord formation and progessions for all styles- Pull-off, Hammer on, legato, tremolo picking, finger-tapping, Arpeggios, string skipping,etc.. I have been teaching regularly since my college days. I started as a piano teacher, but quickly expanded into stringed instrument. Right now I teach at home, in my own studio, my student's homes, and in couple local schools as a music director and teacher. I prepare y students not only how to play, but also how to become self starting artists able to read and play. I organize yearly recitals where all of my students can show their skills. Read More

For the beginner my method is to start with the basics. You will learn how to read standard notation, and tabs. We will work on technique, and help you develop a nice tone. I also like to incorporate music that the students want to learn to make it fun and exciting as well. Even though learning the guitar can be hard work, it should also be really fun. More advanced students can bring music they are working on, either for school or for themselves and we will find a way to make it more interesting and polished. Read More

Over the past 40 years, I have been involved with several different “R&B” bands and played various college circuits, also playing in local clubs and many private parties. I have had a wonderful opportunity to meet and play with many professional musicians in my career. My approach to teaching is to customize lessons based upon the individuals’ age, current skill level, and personal goals. Teaching them how to read music, phrase their sound and control the dynamics to produce a cohesive piece of music. Read More

Adult students can opt to go to the next book in the series (Book II and III of the 'modern' piano course). For String students I am comfortable in the 'Essential Elements' series, 'String Builder' series and 'All for Strings' methods as an excellent base with which to start. For Guitar Students I am a fan of 'Alfred's Basic Guitar Method' Books 1-3. For Bass guitar students I prefer 'Mel Bay's Bass Guitar Method. Read More
