I currently play drums for the hit Broadway musical (non-union version) of Rock of Ages and when I'm not on the road; I'm teaching. I’m an avid columnist for Modern Drummer Magazine and I sing/play guitar for one of Chicago's best Nirvana tributes called Smells Like Nirvana. I studied at Berklee College of Music and I have a huge passion for teaching. I offer the option for students to get their lessons recorded via audio/video so they have a reference to stay on task for their next lesson. Read More

With nearly 25 years of music-related experience and more than 15 years as an instructor, I have taught a multitude of students, young and old, and within a broad age range and abilities. Moreover, I have worked with the United Way of Santa Barbara in the summer of 2014 as a guitar instructor and was instrumental in developing a guitar program with the City of Pismo Beach in 2013. While working in Pismo Beach, my dedication to the students, most of whom were young children, compelled me to reached out to music instrument vendors and successfully solicited for donations of instruments and equipment to the city’s music program. As a teacher, I believe one of my greatest responsibilites is to foster a love and care for music. If the student is not caring about music, then why are they studying? How will they progress? The best students are the ones who teach themselves. I can show the student the door, but he or she must walk through it. My second greatest responsibility is to teach the craft of music - including all the disciplines it needs. Read More

Each student has unique strengths and weaknesses and it's very important to learn each student's routines and habits. With this in mind, I will create an environment that facilitates encouragement and constructive criticism. As a teacher, I will always encourage my students, but they will get out what they put into it. Read More

Almost immediately after starting to play music, I began teaching my friends and family members how to play. I became the guitar teacher at my high school, teaching beginning guitar students for the last semester of my senior year. Then, when I went to college, I continued teaching friends and starting picking up students who I did not know at all for the first time. These experiences taught me how to deal with all age levels, and different styles of student learning. Read More

My style of tutelage differs from many other teachers in that I place as much emphasis improvisation as on fundamental techniques. Etudes are fun and all (really, they are), but nothing beats having the ability to ... This, of course, entails important theory elements and special techniques, when needed. I have taught students since high school, and all throughout college was a guitar teacher; even TAing for special guitar courses over the summer. Read More
