If need be, I use certain books to supplement my lessons and for personal at home practice. Normally I only recommend books to students that want to further their understanding and ability in sight-reading, drawing from my own experiences learning from various books and online sources. My biggest concern is keeping the instrument fun for the student, and not letting it feel like a chore. I feel that a student is most likely to excel when they experience joy from their instrument, so to help keep the instrument fresh, I like to provide exercises that are challenging and rewarding, in addition to the regular curriculum.
