My method of teaching is centered around building technique and encouraging hard work, all whilst finding the inspiration within and keeping my students excited to learn.  In the first lesson, I have the student bring me a list of goals and then prepare future lessons individually tailored to their needs.  I teach vocal and breathing technique, repertoire and interpretation.  I also provide exercises that help tackle performance anxiety for those that need help with this common problem.  For my jazz students, I also offer the opportunity to learn improvisation and scatting.  Read More

I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies from Western Michigan University and a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance from New England Conservatory. From there I recorded two albums, opened for numerous recording artists, built a recording studio, created a band and got accepted into California Institute of the Arts and Berklee College of Music. After we performed, we would have a talk back with the kids where they would ask different questions about acting and my experience with singing, and it filled my heart to see so many kids be entranced by theater and inspired to be in the arts themselves. I had another class i high school that focused on bringing arts to different communities around Chicago, and once every couple weeks we would go to a different middle school and play improv games, create scenes, and sing with the children of the schools so that they can learn how to embrace who they are through performance.
