For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a compilation of books that I have founded very helpful through my research in methods or etudes. There is a goal per lesson which should be aproached easily to practice. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by gathering an understanding of each student's prior knowledge on the subject, and setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I am a driven and holistic instructor that finds meaning, passion, and understanding from sharing music with others. I graduated from Northern Illinois University, in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Trombone Performance. During my time at NIU, I studied with Jeremy Moeller, principal trombone of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. My experience with teaching music began on my college campus when the students came up to me asking me to teach them certain songs to play. I did this for a small fee and got them prepared to play it live in front of friends and family. Soon after that, my adviser had me help lead the student teacher program at the Logan county park district and we started off with 6 students and now we have over 8 students for each student-teacher in our program and now we have more online material for the students.
