Instruments: Voice
For beginning students, I focus on the essentials of theory and intervals and combine with the Voice for Life method. Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs and goals, so no lesson is exactly alike in structure. For intermediate to advanced students, I focus on aural (ear) training, sight singing and rhythm and follow it with prepared pieces in order to be "audition ready". For the intermediate to advanced students, I don't use a specific tool for teaching as I feel once you are past the fundamentals of music, everyone learns differently. Read More

My experience teaching started in college. I was lucky enough to be elected the Music Director of an all male a cappella group at Missouri State and much of my time was spent teaching vocal techniques, musicianship, and arranging to the group as well as individually. At this time, I was also the tenor section leader for the Missouri State Concert Chorale under the direction of Dr. Guy Webb. After college, I pursued a teaching career in Birmingham, AL where I taught private voice and piano lessons to 30-40 students a week as well as coaching group classes and rock bands for competition. I also teach hour-long group vocal classes seasonally. On average, I teach around 30 lessons a week, mostly 30/45 minute sessions, and several hour long sessions in addition to my group classes. The majority of my instruction takes place over FaceTime/Zoom, or in the student’s home. I just recently moved back to my home of Colorado from New York City. I am now based in Denver, where I am head engineer/producer of my own recording studio, “The Mine.” Many of my longstanding students have continued with me as their teacher via Zoom/Facetime, regardless of me moving or being on tour. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing students passionately pursue and succeed in the musical goals they set for themselves. I encourage students to set smaller, individual goals that can help them reach the larger goals they may have. Each student is unique and all students deserve to learn in the mode or format that is most effective. It is my role to both welcome the uniqueness of each student as well as offer multiple styles from which students can learn. Read More

I have been teaching music ever since I began to develop a formal education myself. I began by teaching anyone and everyone I could as early as my first year of college. I quickly figured out that anyone could really learn this stuff. I also realized that most people wanted to learn at some point, just never got around to it or stopped believing they could. It has always been my mission to reverse this kind of thinking for those who want it, and help people understand it is never too late to learn. Read More

My goal is to pass my deep love for music on to everyone that I teach. I will work hard for my students, and in return hopefully they will work hard for me. Learning to play a music instrument takes patience and discipline. The rewards are incredible, it can teach a student so much more than being able to play just music. Valuable life lessons come from playing a music instrument. Read More
Instruments: Voice
My teaching style has been described by students as such: "Natural, with a focus on healthy singing," "concentrating on developing techniques specific to each genre of music," and "always fun but still really helpful!" I emphasize becoming self-sufficient as a musician so that my students can become great musicians outside of the lesson environment. We work together during each lesson to safely develop the voice and learn techniques appropriate to each style of music. Read More
