Since then, I have taught in church programs (choral students working on solo voice) as well as in the university setting (student teaching and TA voice class support). Jill has been teaching children and adults for 20 years. I studied voice and piano and performed at various venues. Now, I focus more on teaching piano and voice. We work on technique, performance, note reading, sight reading, and interpretation. We also work on music theory. My methods depend on the student's age, what they may have already begun in lessons with another teacher, and I also take into consideration the assessment of their learning style-choosing a method that works best for their needs. Basically you could say that I have no 'one' method. First and foremost, the main end goal for me with every single one of my students in my studio is attempting to develop the same love and passion for music that I have been so lucky to develop through having enthusiastic, knowledgeable, talented instructors as well. While I would love to see some of my students pursue a degree/career in music past a few years into high school, I realize that that is a tough calling to follow, and many times people sing or perform more as a hobby than a career choice.
