My teaching experience dates back to my high school years. I started teaching at the age of 14. Being a piano instructor was one of the best jobs I ever took on. I am very passionate about music. For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. For my violin students, I usually stick with the Suzuki Method, or Essential Elements books, if they are in the more beginning stages. Read More

In addition, because of Covid-19, I now teach via Zoom and/or Facetime which has proven to be very successful experience for all my students. Also, my Strings Program students in Branford, CT from the years 1996-2005 have had access to music notation computer programs such as Finale and Music Time. I developed this approach when I taught in South Carolina for three years: 1982-1985. Hello! I'm Audie, a college student studying Music Education at Western Connecticut State University. I believe that music has the capacity to be an agent of change, both within and outside one's self. Learning a musical instrument can be a very satisfying opportunity to grow as a person and as a musician. My method of instruction is individualized to both a student's goals and their unique interests or aptitudes. For beginning students I like to start with building good technique and posture and making sure that the fundamentals are practiced thoroughly.  I grew up learning through the Suzuki Method and I like to teach that way as well.  Suzuki said that any child could learn to play music because like a child learns language through listening, a child can also learn to play music the same way.  With support from teachers and parents or guardians a child can become a successful and accomplished musician. For students with a little more experience, or an adult who is just getting back into playing, I will get them to work towards an attainable goal and figure out what it is that they want to get from the lessons.
