I  Played trumpet and violin in the orchestra for the Brandfor High School annual  Musicals for (15) fifteen years.

Also, I played violin and trumpet in the New Haven, Connecticut Civic Orchestra from 1996 - 2004.

Overview:

I was born in Winchester Indiana on 9/9/1954, but raised in Middletown Ohio. Trumpet was my major instrument which I focused on in obtaining my Bach. Degree in Music Ed. from Miami University of Ohio, and Strings were my focus. I started and ran a string program in Branford CT since 1985, and, this is where I still live. I have a total of 23 years in public schools. I got my first string teaching position in Oconee Co. SC I studied Cello for 4 years at Kent State University from 1973-74, which is why I focused on string teaching.  I enjoy composing music, and arranging music, for fellow musicians which has become my passion, which I now do through the music notation program - Finale 20006b, and the sequencer program Pro Tools7M Powered, thru which I run thru my MacBook Pro, and my M audio I/o Interface board.

EXPERIENCE
In addition, because of Covid-19, I now teach via Zoom and/or Facetime which has proven to be very successful experience for all my students. Also, my Strings Program students in Branford, CT from the years 1996-2005 have had access to music notation computer programs such as Finale and Music Time. I developed this approach when I taught in South Carolina for three years: 1982-1985. This resulted in having my students understand how Music Notation works as well as composing their own musical works while learning to do so.
METHODS USED

I Developed a unique method of teaching string composition from beginners to advanced students as well as in the areas of Improvisation and Composition .  Moreover, I enjoy teaching to a diverse age population and a variety of styles from each instrument I teach.

Moreover, I have developed students' original compositions, for 2nd year students and for those older students to explore more levels. I compiled them in individual books, so that they can learn from each other which proved to be successful.
LESSON STYLE
I assign music lessons that are appropiate to the students' learning pace. I also adapt different metods of teaching tailored to the students' needs and their goals, and preference of style of music. I enjoy watching my students learn and accomplish their own future goals. For example, sometimes students of all ages do not understand music notation, so I approach this area of Theory differently. For example, instead of looking at the Staff as limericks; For example, instead of reading the Treble Clef as the word "FACE" (low to high). My approach is line space line order is why the Notes are in a mathematical order instead. By mathematical, line, space, line equals: ABC etc.
