I try to cater to the each student's particular needs. For beginning students that are children I typically start with the Essential Elements Strings Book 1 in combination with Suzuki first book. As every student progresses at a different pace, I adjust my teaching curriculum accordingly. Having that in mind, I decide on the next step, usually some solo repertoire, as well as some more etudes and scales. For adults, I tend to go with what they are particularly interested in, as well as incorporating learning basic music reading and playing skills. Read More

I have been teaching music lessons since 1989 as soon as I graduate high school. My deep love and understanding of music helps inspire and empower students to expand their musical voice. My teaching methods depend on the age and ability of the student. From younger students and beginners to older or more advanced students. For violin, I use my own tailored curriculum. I teaches basic scales, essential techniques to all levels, and various pieces of music depending on the studentxe2x80x99s needs. Read More

Hello! I am a freelance violinist and teacher in the DMV area and have a great deal of experience performing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra player. Ive been teaching all levels of violin and viola for over 12 years. I used to teach many talented students in Boston but then moved to Reston, Virginia two years ago. I have studied with renowned violinists such as Sergei Kravchenko from Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, James Buswell from New England Conservatory, Nicholas Kitchen from Borromeo Quartet, and David Salness from University of Maryland. Over my years of teaching, I have learned that music is such an incredible outlet for my students to express themselves. Especially for younger students, it gives them a way to show their emotions when words are not enough. I enjoy watching my students grow as musicians and learn to articulate different concepts with confidence. Perhaps most special is watching a student's personal confidence grow as they learn a new skill that makes them feel special. Read More

I have had lots of experiences working with young musicians. I assisted my former violin teacher who teaches at Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou supervising some of his students’ practice. I helped my students to prepare for their exams, auditions, performances and competitions and a lot of them achieved satisfying outcomes. I also coached sectionals of a high school orchestra for 2 years and they were awarded 1st prize winner for the first time at the city’s interschool music contest during the second year. Read More

For beginner students who are children, I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will introduce solo repertoire suited for his or her first recital performance. I introduce etudes to the students after the student demonstrates the ability to play several simple pieces well. For intermediate and advanced students, I typically do not let them play a piece at a certain grade level until they have finished playing one piece one grade level below that. Read More

I choose to work step by step. Not to force them or pressure them on anything. As I mentioned above, having this balance between having fun, enyoing and learning how to be responsible and dedicated, is healthy and efficient! Important is to understand that to learn an instrument, you also need to practice, at least 30 min per day and not just only wanting to have the lesson, because the progress will be very minimal and slow, and the learning process will become very boring.
