Overview:
Having started playing violin at the age of 5, sharing my love of music has been an enormous part of my life. I originally come from Serbia, where I obtained my BM in Violin Performance at The University of Belgrade.  I continued my graduate studies in Toronto, Canada, where I finished an Artist Diploma program at The Royal Conservatory of Music.  In 2013 I graduated in Masters of Music at The Catholic University of America, in Washington DC. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences in my music carreer. I have travelled from China to Mexico, Canada to South Africa, and across Europe touring with orchestras and performing in some of the best concert halls in the world, such as Berlin Philharmonic, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The Concert Hall of National Grand Theatre Beijing and Carnegie Hall.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to my college days in Toronto, where I started teaching privately. I started teaching part-time about 5 years ago, and have been consistently teaching since. I am fortunate that I get to work with a lot of young kids, and get to introduce them to the world of music and help them develop their passion early on. Teaching is a great source of energy for me. It inspires me to not only become a better teacher and a violinist, but also a better person. Besides teaching privately, and Musika Lessons, Milena is also delighted to be a part of faculty at Capitol Hill Day School, Westminster School in Annandale, and Prelude ensemble in Arlington, VA
METHODS USED
I try to cater to the each student's particular needs. For beginning students that are children I typically start with the Essential Elements Strings Book 1 in combination with Suzuki first book. As every student progresses at a different pace, I adjust my teaching curriculum accordingly. Having that in mind, I decide on the next step, usually some solo repertoire, as well as some more etudes and scales.  For adults, I tend to go with what they are particularly interested in, as well as incorporating learning basic music reading and playing skills.
LESSON STYLE
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student develop a passion for music! Therefore, it is important to approach each student individually, adjusting my teaching methods to them personally. This ensures that the student progresses at their own pace.  Most importantly, I encourage their progress by setting proper goals and acknowledging their accomplishments which makes students eager to learn more.  Making progress is the goal for both me and my students, and we work together to make that possible.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
