I teach mainly out of the string builder series. After the student shows some progress I will introduce some solo pieces and maybe some studies to practice. My method really revolves around the student since everyone advances at their own pace. Some other method books could be Kreutzer, Sevcik, and wohlfhart. I always use variety of method books depending on the capability of each student in grasping the instructions. I have a syllabus that I am following base on the Music Teacher's Association syllabus in preparation for a Certificate of Merrit examination. And for those younger students that are not ready yet in taking the Statewide Music examination, a Royal School of Music syllabus is what I am using in order for our studies to be on track. I am very patient with my students and believe that every student has a potential in a certain sphere. When it comes to practicing an instrument I had cases where students did not practice at all. Instead of stopping lessons with those types of students I patiently waited and continuously motivated, and little by little the progress was happening. I also care about my students.
