In 2015, I graduated from the University of Connecticut with two Bachelor of Music degrees in Viola Performance and Composition. In 2018, I graduated from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami with a Master of Music degree in Composition. During my time at both universities, I performed in many music ensembles ranging from duos to large symphony orchestras. Although I do not teach Suzuki method, I do like to use the Suzuki method books as a resource for teaching younger students. The first piece my school-aged students learn will always be one that they know the tune to already: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, for example. Once students are comfortable in holding and using the violin, I introduce a little bit of note reading at each lesson. For adult students, understanding of the instrument will come much faster, so I love getting my students to play music with which they can focus on making a beatiful sound while still learning the fundamentals. I also pay special attention to the goals and desires of the student's guardians to know what I do to help students reach their full potential. It is my personal belief that sometimes a complicated thing is actually very simple. In violin playing, the easy things taught at the beginning is very crucial to a player in order to get on a higher level. Therefor, I prefer to help a student set the foundations right before getting into tons of repertoire. And believe me, a solid foundation doesn't me boring exercise.
