I have enjoyed a rich orchestral career, which has taken me across the country to perform with professional orchestras such as the Austin Symphony Orchestra, the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, the Battle Creek Symphony, the Amarillo Symphony, and many others. Additionally I have performed in numerous public concerts and events as a soloist and an ensemble musician. I graduated from UNC-SA through both their highschool and collegiate programs. After earning my violin performance degree I continued to travel around the United States and Japan, teaching violin everywhere i went. I use a variety of different methods and I tailor my curriculum to each individual student, offering you a personalized approach that is unique to your personality and learning style. I teach repertoire from the Suzuki Violin School and Barbara Barber's Solos for Young Violinists, I also like to incorporate other styles if the student is interested, such as fiddle and bluegrass, and even pop and Disney songs. I also use etude and scale books to help build and enhance certain techniques, such as Wolfhart Etudes, Barber Barber Scales for Young Violinist, Carl Flesch Scale System, etc., depending on the level and individual needs of the student. I believe the best teaching method is one that focuses on the accomplishments of each student. I have several different rewards systems that I will use to motivate students to practice at home. Part of this system is encouraging my students to set their own realistic goals and walking them through how to reach them. Course Materials: I teach classical style music. I use the Suzuki books as repertoire for all students (I do not teach the Suzuki method though) and occasionally use other helpful materials such as Kreuitzer and Trott to teach intermediate students etudes, positions, and technique. Through these materials, I help every one of my students acquire the freedom that comes from a balanced position and relaxed motions.
