She began her violin instruction at a young age and has become a successful performer of solo, chamber, and orchestral literature. She has been an active violin instructor and performer since 2012. Avonlea received her degree in Music Education from Florida State University, one of the most prestigious universities for music educators. I served as Principle Second for the Salish Sea Orchestra in 2024, and served as Concertmaster for the Rainbow City Orchestra from 2011 to 2015, beginning when I was nineteen years old. Other orchestras include the Encanto Orchestra (where I served as Concertmaster on occasion) and the Seattle Rock Orchestra. If my student has a more "just for fun" attitude, the lesson will inevitably be a more light hearted feel. I introduce solos from a variety of sources progressively that complement what is being learned. I try to integrate scales, etudes, and solos for maximum understanding and match the assignments to specific interests and technical needs. I approach each student as an individual. Some students take things slow and steady, while others I can barely fit enough into their weekly lessons to keep them happy, and either way is just fine. My ultimate goal as a teacher is to make myself obsolete - I aim to teach my students how to learn, how to be critics of themselves for more effective practice time, and eventually, how to either need a teacher that can take them to more advanced levels, or to play without a teacher.
