I know each student is different in terms of learning style and musical goals. I make it a priority to keep the student's best interest in mind when giving assignments and setting weekly goals for practicing. The most important thing I want to leave the student with is a sense of fascination and appreciation for music. Whether an interest in classical or country music, I can transform any material into a learning opportunity that is fun, educational, and progressive for the student's musical and technical development. I'm a passionate music educator who studied Violin Performance at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC before moving to the west coast. I have eight years of teaching experience with students aged 3 and up, and I have played in many orchestras such as the Northwest Symphony Orchestra where I am currently principal second violin, the Santa Cruz Symphony and San Francisco Academy orchestras in California, the Greenville Symphony and South Carolina Philharmonic in my home state, and numerous others. I started driving to my students' homes, and that was when I finally fell in love with teaching! That was in 2008, and since then, my teaching has grown and changed so very much, using different method books, teaching at 2 different studio locations, until finally settling in to teach out of my home and with my current method. I especially love teaching the brand new beginner, but I have also had students go on to win college scholarships, and even play beside me in the symphony orchestra! Read More

I enjoy teaching so much because I am able to watch each student develop a passion for music, work towards rewarding careers, and grow a great sense of curiosity. Watching students work through challenges and become excited about music is very rewarding. Students in my studio are encouraged to take on new challenges, but also to learn at their own pace. Each student works with me individually to set goals at each lesson. Read More

I have been teaching privately part time for the past 4 years working with students in grades K-12. My main goal in lessons is for my students to not only succeed at a new skill once, but to be confident in their ability to repeat their success in practice at home and at our next lessons. I encourage positive feedback and positive "self-talk" as a means of boosting self-efficacy. I think an important part of learning is goal setting and outlining specific, achievable steps to reach that goal so that progress can be tracked and the process of learning can become less ambiguous. I served as Principle Second for the Salish Sea Orchestra in 2024, and served as Concertmaster for the Rainbow City Orchestra from 2011 to 2015, beginning when I was nineteen years old. Other orchestras include the Encanto Orchestra (where I served as Concertmaster on occasion) and the Seattle Rock Orchestra. I currently lead the B-Minor String Quartet, which regularly participates in local workshops for coaching and performance. I began giving music lessons (violin, voice, and piano) in 2014. Read More
