By paying attention to what inspires the student and how they take in information most effectively, I can successfully tailor my instruction. Although I do not teach Suzuki method, I do like to use the Suzuki method books as a resource for teaching younger students. The first piece my school-aged students learn will always be one that they know the tune to already: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, for example. Once students are comfortable in holding and using the violin, I introduce a little bit of note reading at each lesson. For adult students, understanding of the instrument will come much faster, so I love getting my students to play music with which they can focus on making a beatiful sound while still learning the fundamentals. Many times students have videoed me playing pieces i teach so they have an example to watch/follow. I use Josephine Trott double stoo books 1 2. I use Yaakov Geringas's "Shifting~Thirty Studies For Young Violinists " .there are a couple scale books i use with my students. I have quite a collection of fiddle tunes, klezmeh tunes, Gypsy music and more i like to mix in with the classical music. My primary goal is to help young students develop a love and deep appreciation for music, which is accomplished through patience, instruction, encouragement and developing incremental levels for each students progress. I also consider myself to be excellent in teamwork projects, as I am always willing to learn from others and am very cooperative in any form of group dynamic. I began teaching when I was a freshman in High School and I continued with a full-time load of students throughout all four years because of how much I loved it! Eventually adding some beginner adult students into my rotation of kids as well! I taught a few college level students throughout my college years whenever I could and took on summer students during my breaks!
