For young children (3-9) I exclusively use the Suzuki method and require a lot of parental involvement. I am happy to start children ages 10+ as well as teenagers. Having been a product of a school orchestra myself, I will use a more traditional teaching approach. The adult beginner or adult returner presents unique challenges but I wholeheartedly believe its never too late to start playing an instrument. I create play-along videos, so that kids have something specific to practice at home. I use "Read this First" as a note reading book. Students play along with me and also by themselves at lessons. Eventually kids can gather together and play as a group if they wish to do so. Zhen H. took part in the viola festival Viva La Viola held by Shanghai Conservatory and then played in the viola chamber orchestra. Zhen H. played a string quartet concert in the opening ceremony of the Viva La Viola Festival in the Shanghai Concert Hall.
