I'e been playing since I've been a young child and have never been able to see myself do anything else. For beginning to intermediate students, I use the Suzuki Method. Each successive piece introduces a new skill, so that the student is always building on learned skills. Dr. Suzuki, the founder of the Suzuki Violin Method, spoke often of the “Suzuki Triangle.” This is an equilateral triangle with Parent, Teacher, and Student in each of the corners. For beginning students who are children, I like to use the Suzuki violin method. While they beginning to show progress Ill begin to include F. I also like to include some Alexander Technique exercises to help my students manage their posture and to prevent getting hurt with the instruments position. Read More

I typically start my students by learning the basics of the instrument (i.e. how it is made, basic care, how to hold, etc.). For younger students, or those who are not experienced with reading music, I start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. If they are learning their instrument in school as well, I like to work through any music given by their teacher. As my students progress, I like to supplement with music from various methods, or with any songs/pieces that they wish to learn. Read More
