In addition to teaching, I also play piano at major charities and fundraisers, including the Democratic Party Convention. You cannot expect to learn a music skill and be able to use it without practice. This is like a marathon runner who cannot expect to run far without training. Much of the frustration students find when it comes to improvement comes from the misunderstanding that something learned in music stays learned. I find it more more accurate to say you train your music skills, rather than learn them. Without the dedication of consistent practice what's learned becomes unlearned. Read More

My approach to teaching is to share my love for music with my students. I will allow students to go at their own pace, and set realistic goals and expectations. I like to focus on intonation heavily, as anything other than excellent intonation is not good playing, in the words of a former instructor. I also encourage creative expression in my students, and will often ask them to try different methods of playing a single phrase in order to increase the depth of their musicality. Read More

I have been teaching music lessons since I was a freshman in college, pursuing my violin performance degree. It has been over 7 years and my passion for teaching students of all different ages and backgrounds continues to grow. Over the years, I've taught over 40 different students; some were my own private students, and some I taught at institutions around New York City.
