There are times that I might recommend the Essential Elements series for those who are just starting off, but at some point I switch the student over to Suzuki. I emphasize the importance of ear training, becuase that is what allows us to know if we are playing correctly. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I graduated from Elizabethtown College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education, with a concentration in violin. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Orchestral Conducting at Messiah College.
