I've been teaching since 2018. My teaching experience ranges from beginner to collegiate and I've taught as young as 8 and as old as 40. My initial goal is to create a connection with both the student and the family (family support it the best way to improve!). My teaching philosophy focuses on using personal experiences to relate to musical ideas (ex, breathe like you're jumping into a pool). Students often improve by themselves using practice techniques and analogies that are easy to remember. Read More

I am an energetic and encouraging instructor who loves seeing students get excited about learning new things. I have B.M. in Acoustic Composition and Electronic Music, 10 years of playing/performing French horn, 5 rigorous years of piano instruction and performance, and a whole lifetime of singing. I wear a lot of hats in my professional life that range from composer to ethnomusicologist (specializing in UK identities and politics in music) to performer (formerly primarily horn but now primarily piano and voice) to music administrator to teacher. My teaching experience dates back to 2014, when I began teaching private piano lessons at a non-profit organization in Key West, Florida. This was what I looked forward to every week at the time and have learned so much about what it means to be a mentor and teacher on top of being a performer. At this location, I have worked with up to 20 students that were enrolled in free music education, as it may have not been available to them privately at an affordable cost. Read More

So while I want to be a steady guide that motivates them, I also engage and interact with students in ways that fit them best. My teaching style centers around learning the student. I focus on the big picture. What can we do now that will make the most significant impact on the player's trajectory? Read More
