I'm a licensed teacher that enjoys sharing my passion for music. In December 2016, I graduated from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education. Performing as part of Cedar Creek Community Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra Pit has given me a variety of experiences to inform my teaching. At 15 years old I had the privilege to study with world class concert pianist the summer of 2016 at an Intensive program. Being mentored by alumni of Juilliard, Oberlin Conservatory, and Curtis Institute, allowed me to really stay focused on my musical studies and inspired me in the best way possible. For beginning folk/pop guitar students I use the Hal Leonard Guitar Method. For Classical guitar I use a combination of various resources, including Segovia scales, Sor studies, Guilianni right-hand studies and Frederick Noad method books. I definitely encourage students to work towards performance of the music they are working on, and try to schedule recital/performance opportunities as students deveope and gain mastery over their material. I always try to maintain a healthy balance between keeping the student working on music that challenges them,and advances their technique, with the need to have fun and enjoy the playing of a musical instrument as a means of entertainment and relaxation.
