My teaching experience sates back to running trumpet sectionals (in Junior High High School) for an All Star Jazz Band in my home town. When I was 16 I started teaching younger trumpet students as well. I descovered early on that I had a passion for directing and teaching. This stayed with me, and I always have incorporated education into my directing and leadership styles as a perormer. As a Musical Director for Royal Caribbean I would regularly have to teach an hour long show to my international band in under an hour and a half.I know that learning an instrument is hard work and that motivation is key to success. I got to see how it was to be a music teacher and felt a calling more so than when I decided to major in music education back in high school. I've been teaching jazz to students since 2010 and have had the opportunity to create workshops focusing on jazz history, improvisation and sound painting. I like to work with new students to build a foundation for trumpet playing and developing a solid tone and embouchure.
