Eichelberger was selected for the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Southeast Intercollegiate Honors Band in 2000 and 2002 being the first trombonist selected from the university in almost 10yrs. Mr. Eichelberger is also a former member of the U.S. Marines Basic Musician Enlistment Program where he studied at the Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Eichelberger also holds a Bachelor of Music in Jaz Studies from Florida Memorial University (2011) and a Masters of Arts in Instrumental Conducting from Morgan State University (2020). Read More

I incorporate basic sightreading, scales, and musical literacy into this. For students with a bit of experience, I have an advanced version of this, which I usually pair with H.L. Clarke's "Techincal Studies for Trumpet/Cornet" and Vincent Cichowicz's "Flow Studies". Depending on the student's level of ability, I might also include parts of Arban's "Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet" or Vacchiano's "Trumpet Routines". If the student is interested in jazz, I typically use Jim Snidero's "Jazz Conception" books as a great starting place to learn about interpreting jazz music as well as a basis for starting to talk about improvisation. Continuing from there, jazz students will start to learn jazz "standards" from the Great American Songbook and discussions of improvisation will go deeper.
