I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, and encourage them by praising their achievements. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a student's desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. My primary instrument is trumpet and I have played in a variety of bands and sung in a variety of choruses of the years.
