I create a hands on curriculum based on the students musical proficiency. Alongside this structured lesson plan, every student will receive training on proper practicing techniques which help build their sense of guidance, responsibility, and structure. Students will also receive training for embouchure and tone development as well as warm up etudes that cater to the students skill level. Music theory and terms will be infused within the lesson plans to ensure my student's proper use of signs and symbols. Read More

Generally, my teaching style depends on the student. Why is that? Everyone is unique, and everyone learns differently. It would be absolutely foolish of me to ever think that I can use one teaching method or style for each and every student. So I teach based on the student's learning style and predispositions. Also I tend to do alot of finger techniques as well as aural training, because I believe even though music reading is essential, it does you no good if you can't respond musically to the sounds and the nuances of your environment. For beginning students I would begin with a basic introduction of the instrument and its history. I believe that each instrument has a story to tell! I use a basic book such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or whatever material the student's band director is using. Flexibility is the key. Playing an instrument should be fun and that is certainly a goal for students of all ages. Practice is the key to success for beginners or more advanced players. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Trombone Euphonium Tuba
For beginner students I like to start away from books and notation and work on sound production and call and response. This is a way to get the ear working and to have some fun with potentially the most daunting part of learning an instrument. Once we have mastered that we move to writen notation and try to match what we have been doing without the book. When a student has progressed towards a good understanding of music notation I will encourage solo repertoire and other projects that are of interest of the students based upon a common goal we have set for our time together. I love people and I love music. My gift is teaching, and I think about it all the time. It gives me great joy to share what I have with you. I teach all aspects of brass playing: air control, embouchure development, articulation, tone, range, and musical interpretation of all styles. I teach a complete understanding of the guitar fretboard. I incorporate music theory and an understanding of chord structure in all lessons, and for all instruments that I play and teach. Read More

- My teaching style is one of the many things that sets me a part from other teachers. I work to create a fundamental relationship with my students to find out what their goals are, what specific level they are at currently, and where they want to take their talents. Once I’ve discovered these essential things, I work with my student at their own pace of comfort and challenge to allow them to learn the things that interest them as well as continue to develop as a musician.
