After a few months, I begin adding solo repertoire that is appropriate for age and ability. For middle school age students and adults, I start with Alfred's Basic Piano, Adult, Level 1. For all students, learning and being comfortable with all scales and keys is an essential fundamental skill I teach. As they practice more and more, they will start to figure out there own ways to fix issues.
