From the first lesson, the most important aspect of teaching is ensuring that the student is attaining the goals he/she is most excited about. If the student is enthusiastic and driven, the rest falls into place naturally. That's the way it's been for the students I've taught, and the way it began for myself. I make sure to celebrate the student's accomplishments and victories, but also address any points or facets of their performance that they could improve upon. Read More

As a music educator, I facilitate a safe, welcoming environment for students to learn and attain their goals. My students grow their creative capabilities by exploring music that challenges them to become better musicians. I incorporate music that you want to play such as pop, classical, or music from various cultures while still going over the fundamentals of their instrument. I also encourage questions during lessons so that less mistakes are made during concerts and playing tests. Read More

I also make sure to take an interest in student's lives beyond music- people are busy, and I understand those pressures! Besides that, music can relate to many areas and disciplines in life, and one's own previous experiences offer many methods for greater understanding. Read More
