For beginning students, I typically use a combination of methods. For clarinet teaching, I like to use the Breeze-Easy method and also some materials from the Rubank method books. For intermediate or school-aged students, I like to supplement the material they are learning in school. I like to continue to use Rubank, Klose, and Rose books to continue to develop technique and musicality. For more advanced students or adult learners, I try to cater to the specific interests of the student while continuing to work on improving fundamental skills on the instrument. Read More

I find that the most important thing about teaching, especially teaching music, is finding what your students are interested in and getting to know them on a personal level. As a teacher, I have to learn about the unique learning styles my students have, their individual needs, and their goals and dreams as a musician in order to best teach them. Praising accomplishments and encouraging public performances is also very important as a teacher, as for the student, that positive feedback will drive them towards more success in the future. I have been teaching bagpipes since 2017 and thoroughly enjoy passing along my knowledge to new eager students. I'm always looking for new ways to explain things and pass along information in different ways depending on a student's ability and aptitude. My teaching experience started in 1976 when my teacher had passed away and I inherited his students teaching at Major music school in Irvington New Jersey teaching saxophone clarinet and flute I remain there for approximately 20 years When i relocated to central New Jersey where I was a teacher in the Franklin Township Edison South Brunswick and North Brunswick school system also doing private studio teaching And teaching at students homes and was also offering bassoon an oboe to my students I generally use if the student is in a school program what they are using working on their band music and then supplementing their lessons with appropriate solo material and technical material and I’m able to teach everything from jazz improvisation to orchestral playing and beginning to intermediate Oboe With my extensive performance and teaching experience I welcome the opportunity to expand to new students Read More
