I am a driven player who believes ardently in the practice of fundamentals and the accuracy of intonation. I auditioned for the U.S Army Band in 2004 and spent 10 years traveling with the group. During this time, I played venues all over the world, including Japan, Korea, Germany, and Iraq among others, and learned to play many different styles of music. I like to sit with my students and have them learn about the parts of the instrument as well as getting to know their instrument. I tailor my lessons to meet each student's individual needs. I work to balance the time between challenging exercises they may struggle with, and fun playing they can enjoy and excel at. I frequently discuss goals with students, such as "we will work towards being about to play 8 measures without taking a breath" or "within two months we will be able to comfortably play up to high-C."
