I have taught private lessons to students of all ages since my time in college. I enjoy working with a wide variety of ages, and levels of experience from beginners, to students with over ten years of experience who are auditioning for college programs. As a public school music teacher, I am able to compliment what students are already learning in their school music programs and help them prepare for local and regional auditions. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Recorder, Piccolo, Mallet Percussion, Music, Keyboard

My teaching experience dates back to when I was still in high school. I would go to middle schools and give lessons. Now as a college music graduate, I have taught many ages including college peers. I think it is important to teach skills and methods that will help the student problem-solve and continue to learn even when they are alone. My students have done well in auditions and chair tests, and I always encourage both recitals and competitions. Read More

Instruments: Flute, Piccolo

For beginner students, I typically start with Rubank Elemetary Method for Flute. However, if you have a different method book, I am happy to teach using that book, if I find it to be a credible source. For intermediate to advanced students, I prefer to use the Rubank Advanced Method Books 1 and 2, but again, if you have your own books, if I approve, we can use those books instead. I will be flexible with you and teach to your skills and experience with method books and repertoire that will help you improve your technique. Read More

Instruments: Flute, Recorder, Piccolo, Oboe, English Horn

My method are getting with the student for a first lesson to see what they have done and what they are able to do. Then get them to play for me whatever they wish to play for me at the moment and then we will go from there. Depending on what they are able to do then I will decided what kind of warm-up to d with them. Like for myself I do 15 minutes of long-tones on oboe and then 10-15 minutes on English horn. Read More

Barry L

Instruments: Piano, Voice, Saxophone, Flute, Synthesizer

I don't tend to rely on any one method. I have quite a bit of material that I have personally developed over the years. I try to take each student as an individual with their own unique personality, likes and dislikes, and motivations. So I enjoy customizing a lesson plan that is as individual as each student. I do use some published materials that I have found to work well with beginning students. Read More

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
