My teaching styles vary from student to student. It is impossible to teach every student the same way. Some students learn methodically and some learn holistically. The teacher should be similar to a blade of grass which blows in the wind. One has to be flexible and not rigid nor Stiff.Generally speaking, I have a very relaxed approach in my teaching style which makes the student more comfortable at his or her lessons. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Clarinet
Every student is different and I try to be very attentive to the individual needs of each student. However, there are several method books for clarinet and saxophone as well as many different exercises that have been effective for my current students. For younger students or for adult beginners, I tend to start them out with the Essential Elements books or the Rubank method. I also try to start teaching scales at a young age because this opens up a whole world of possibilities for the student. Read More

My methods are tailored to the individual student. I focus on proper breathing, posture, and instrument placement in the early part of my lessons. Then, I focus on scales and harmonies. The majority of my lessons consist of Technical Exercises, and I choose pieces/songs based on the students natural inclinations. My method books include: Ferling 48 Etudes Bach Cello Suites (Transcribed for sax by Trent Kynaston) Trent Kynaston Scale Studies Improvisation for Saxophone (Oliver Nelson) The Jazz Real Book Read More

With all my students I try to develop the ability to play from memory and off the top of their head. I always include what the student might be musically interested in as well. Depending on their level I will use different books along the way. For beginners I may use Rubank to get some scales under their fingers and perhaps a songbook but for others who are more advanced I may use Sigurd Rascher Top Tones to develop altissimo register, or a rhythm book like Rhythms Complete to develop sight reading.
