I have extensive performance experience from marching band to musical pit orchestras to pop bands at amusement parks. I specialize in classical, jazz and can teach very beginners to more advanced students. Read More

I'm a dedicated and passionate multi-instrumentalist and composer and have been sharing my love of music with students of all ages since 2009. I studied jazz performance at the New England Conservatory of Music and my curiosity in other styles of music has led me to branch out into classical music, rock, electronic, and a variety of folk musics from different parts of the world. I'm lucky to have been able to perform in and around Seattle, Boston, Europe and now Brooklyn. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
For my beginning students, I start off with Hal Leonard's Absolute Beginners - Alto Saxophone method book to start them off with the basic fundamentals of reading music and playing the saxophone. For my more advanced students, I introduce fundamental saxophone techniques as well as solo repertoire. For adults, I encourage them to come up with a set of goals, and I set up each lesson so that we meet these goals. Read More

One of the most valuable life skills that music lessons can impart is the skill of objective self-analysis. This means being honest with oneself, both about areas that need improvement (weaknesses), but also existing strengths! I encourage students to use this skill in a musical context, with the hope that they then carry it out into other parts of their lives. My greatest strength as a teacher is my flexibility- I make sure to prepare for every lesson, but if a student comes in with a curveball that takes the lesson in a new direction, I'm happy to go with the flow, and to try and build and expose the deeper relationships between different areas of music and the saxophone. I am committed to creating an environment for learning to hear and create music in new ways that is as productive as it is engaging. Read More

My teaching method is different for every student based on age, level, and their musical goals. However, the two things that I try to keep consistent among all of my students is a solid technical foundation and curiosity for different musical styles. For beginners, I typically start with the Rubank Beginner or Intermediate method book. Once the student has progressed to grasp the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes and solo repertoire along with any pop or jazz songs they might want to learn. Read More

I usually start my beginning piano students who are children, in Alfred's Basic Piano Library, Lesson Book 1A. After a few months, I begin adding solo repertoire that is appropriate for age and ability. For middle school age students and adults, I start with Alfred's Basic Piano, Adult, Level 1. I also like to find out the student's individual interest and find repertoire that they are interested in learning and that are aligned with their current skills. Read More
