I find it extremely rewarding to see students enjoy the music they're playing and accomplish more than they ever thought possible. For this reason, I work with students at a pace conducive to their level. Although, I will challenge their ability, it will be done in such a way where the student can see their progress no matter how big or small that may be. In voice I teach what I learned the Alexander Technique method of singing which focuses on posture and alignment. In piano I learned the Russian method and do teach it but I also teach the popular and Jazz method of fake book reading. I use whatever method the student require based on their ability to learn and what there goals are but am fond of the Faber and Faber method. Read More

I'm always encouraging students to play for large audiences, and I create a fun environment in order to build confidence in the students. I create lesson plans for students based off of their passions. If a younger child has never read music before, success is usually found in working with music that they are interested in. If a student is beginning to study improvisation a similar approach is used with styles of soloists that they are very familiar with. Learning must be fun and it must improve ones understanding of the subject at the same time if it is to be rewarding. Read More
