I describe my teaching style as casual in that I tend to encourage creativity along with traditional classical music teaching. Also, I avoid repetitive drill and favor teaching derivation such as intervals as the basis of all scales and chords instead of memorizing scales. I integrate chords and chard variations as appropriate with the execution of a song. To emphasize the fun part of the lesson, which is song, the student participates in the song selections as well as the type of music which is taught. Read More

I started teaching over 8 years ago, and currently teach many private students in their homes. I have also taught at Music And Arts, in many of their facilities over the years. I teach several instruments including guitar, bass, piano, drums and voice. Students of any age or skill level are welcome to take lessons with me, and I can work to achieve their goals—whether it’s just to sing around the campfire with friend or to tour the world and become a professional musician. I vary my methods according to student level, age, and practice habits. For example, for the advanced high school student I often mold my teachings around college audition requirements and all-state, regional band auditions. Otherwise, particularly for younger styudents, I am not very performance oriented. I think it is more important to learn to "play" at music rather than plan and prepare for multiple recitals. I have been teaching for almost 10 years, in Philadelphia schools such as Olney High School, Nueva Esperanza, AMLA Latin School for The Performing Arts, Taller Puertorriqueo, and Philly Music Lessons. I have been consistently teaching students in my home studio within the last 6 years. As music composition and music production are rapidly changing with the rise of technology, I also teach music composition with technology in mind. As students are able to learn and play keyboard and piano, they will also learn how to make their own music using music beat-making software such as Ableton Live, Reason, ProTools, and other DAWs.
