I try to encourage everyone to learn how to read music, but certain students prefer to learn pieces quicker, in which case I can speed up the process by telling them the notes to play. If the student doesn’t want to learn notes or the more advanced musical concepts, I usually just start by teaching them simple songs that they know from the radio, TV Shows or movies.
