After finishing school, I began establishing my own studio. In addition to classical piano, I have received two years of collegiate-level vocal instruction. Singing has been a part of my life since a very young age--I believe singing is a wonderful form of musical expression and recommend it to enhance instrumentalists' understanding of phrasing. I also play guitar and have ample experience in contemporary keyboard from church settings. I hope to use all of this experience to provide a rounded music education to my students. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to my college days, as I began teaching private adult lessons for my Studio class 5 years ago and have been teaching privately ever since. For the past year, however, I've been an elementary music teacher in Washington, D.C. I am certified to teach Pre-K-12th grades in public schools, although I usually coach adults privately. When beginner students start lessons with me I generally use a Lesson Book and eventually a Technique Book and soon after some kind of Theory Book to learn behind the music. For the lesson book for beginners I like to use the Alfred's Series, which has all kind of levels of beginning piano whether you are 4 years oldup toadult. For the technique book I like to use a Hanon series, which I start first with exercises by rote and patterns until the student can read music and understand the exercises in the book. Read More
