i have been teaching for 55 yrs both privately and in teaching studios as well as in group settings . i have volunteered teaching classes at the ymca , the boys and girls clubs . continuing education at northern kentucky university . i have taught musicians on stage as we perform . i love to teach as well as i love to play live. i also teach music theory and composition. i teach all stringed instruments including piano and drums . i teach all instruments . even those that i do not actually play . sax flute trumpet etc. if you can play one instrument you can play them all once you know where the notes are . right ? lol . For younger beginners, I typically start with Hal Leonard’s essential elements, every once in a while, I encourage them to find their favorite song (it can be any type of music) to study and play in the lesson. It can be the entertainment during lessons. The purpose it to make lessons more fun and keep them motivated. I graduated from Stetson University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and from the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP) with a Masters of Music in Piano Performance in 2022.
