In my studio, the most important thing when structuring lessons is to make them individualized. No two lessons look the same in my studio. If a student wants to work on composing, that will be the focus. If the student wants to work on sight-reading, we'll focus on that. I believe in a student learning to hear music and think for themselves. Through ear training, creativity, and learning "how" music works, the goal is to get each student to not need a teacher to learn their instrument, but want a teacher so they may become their best version of it. From there I transferred to Southwestern Adventist University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences and minored in Vocal Music.
