My music teaching experience began all the way back in 2011 when I got to be a section leader for the Charleston Trojans Marching Band alto saxophones section. My interest in piano grew and my most current teaching experience was student teaching at Hayt Elementary School in Chicago, IL (in CPS). I want my students to develop a first- hand appreciation for the creation of music and use it as a way to problem solve in other aspects of their lives. I have studied many teaching methods, including Orff, Suzuki, the Russian music school. Essential to the Russian music school of piano method are touch, tone and expressiveness. When playing piano, posture, hand position and other fundamentals are very important. I use elements of all of these methods, tailored to the needs and abilities of my individual students. Hi, my name is Marianne! I graduated from Garden City Community College in 2011 with an Associate of Arts degree in Piano. From there I transferred to Southwestern Adventist University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences and minored in Vocal Music. I love to share my passion for music with others, and I hope to convey that to my students as well.
