I seek to help a student to find their own inspiration in whatever genres and fields they find appropriate. I help students develop their own inner passion by bringing them to community events to provide musical examples outside of the curriculum that is necessary to improve skill level on all instruments. For younger students and those just starting out, I will usually start with a basic introduction to their instrument, get them acquainted with it and how to properly play the instrument before moving on to basic scales and beginner songs. As for more experienced and older students, I try to figure out what their goals are as a musician and guide the instruction based on those goals and ensuring that things remain engaging as well as educational. For my youngest students I start with a method book as I think the structure and step by step progress are very helpful. For teens and adults book recommendations are based on each students needs. I let the students guide me with the kinds of music they will really enjoy playing, but I will use the music they like to teach theory, song writing, and other aspects of music. I am a songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer with a lifelong passion for learning. This Spring, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Cornish College of the Arts with my BM in Music Composition and Performance. While at school, I performed with several Jazz ensembles, Chamber Ensemble, Creative Ensemble, Latin Ensemble, African Drumming, Gamelan, and Guitar Ensemble.
