Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My name is Johnny and I have been playing guitar since I turned 13. Throughout the many years I have spent playing with other musicians, learning music theory from, (teachers and independent study). Currently playing bass in Morgan and the Mountain and am currently writing a Progressive Metal album, along with writing music for commercial distribution, as well as Jazz, Funk, Neosoul, Rock, Blues, and R&B. I create custom lessons for each student in my studio. Its important to me that students feel they are progressions towards their goals and I prioritize that in my lesson planning. I typically give students 2 or 3 songs to practice at a time, and I always include a classical or folk art song, and a musical theater song. It is important to me that students enjoy the songs they sing and I involve them in choosing the songs they are assigned. Read More

Now that I am building my own woodwind studio, I want to emphasize learning the basics, as I lacked that in my own early schooling. Music fundamentals are the building blocks of successful musicians. My curriculum will include the Breeze Easy method books, Rubank beginner and intermediate books as well as Suzuki flute and piano books and other etude and repertoire pieces to help the students build a solid library of their own. My musical teaching goes back to high school, when I was the section leader in marching band on clarinet and the saxophone section leader in jazz band. I lead sectionals and helped those in my section learn the music and improve as players. I tried to make the sectional time as effective as possible, as we usually only had about 30 minutes. My favorite part about teaching is teaching beginners. It's so much fun to introduce a brand new instrument to someone and show them all that learning music has to offer. I mainly focus on the basics of music, and music theory in order to give students the tools they need to teach themselves when I'm not around, or if lessons have to discontinue for some reason. Once the basics of music theory have been grasped, it makes learning the technical aspects of the new instrument much faster, and easier. Read More
