I am an evidence-based voice teacher. This means that I approach teaching from an anatomical point of view. I value the importance of science and knowledge of how the voice works. For all students, I begin with finding relaxed positions and strengthening exercises. It is important to find your voice! Beginners generally get to start with proper technique via some harmony open string chords to common popular music, before stepping into the Suzuki or Essential Elements world. Once they reach the mid-levels of Suzuki I also start to incorporate common music for their instrument that may be separate from the books, bu almost more importantly I get the student to start investigating their own taste in music. I am very passionate about music. I love to teach and pass along what i know so that others can continue to create music for profit and personal enjoyment. I am a very low pressure teacher. If you are not enjoying your time then no one is benefiting from the lessons. I use a marker board, books, a metronome, paper and pencils etc to tech lessons. I do not send home "homework" but i will assign practice exercises for students to do between classes and will check on the progress and results when we meet for our next lesson. Read More

Music theory is a method that can be included in voice lessons, and is integrated into piano lessons from the beginning with most learners. Read More
