I have in my repertoire numerous lessons that I provide for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students alike. For young children, I start with the fundamentals, ensuring that the child has grasped the concepts before moving on. For older children or adults, I first assess the student's musical interests (e.g., genres/styles, acoustic/electric guitar, style(s) of playing, etc..) and teach to their interest, beginning with the fundamentals, the foundation, and subsequently moving on to more complex concepts, all the while ensuring that the lessons are fun and engaging. I prefer to start young beginners with the Suzuki method. I feel it's the best method for not only instilling the correct posture and tone production, but also a great method for instilling a passion for the instrument. Students learn songs by rote in a lesson, and then practice at home along with a recording in order to train the ear. Once students have a good foundation, I add in I Can Read Music and use it as a supplement to continued Suzuki practice to begin developing music reading skills. Read More

As a result of those experiences, I built a private studio of trombone students made up of my classmates and have maintained a private studio ever since. For beginning students I believe it's important for them to begin playing the first day. I get the students to make their first sound and teach the technique and theory as they learn their instrument. For beginning voice students I use the same method, but I like to use a song that the student knows. For students with experience I like to have them play or sing something they know and I evaluate that and I will work with them on that song and build their technique. Read More
