My ultimate aim in teaching is to build a solid foundation of music based on the musical ability of each age group and offer a suitable curriculum. I have my own private voice and piano studio for all different ages. Read More

My roots go back to marching percussion and drum set when I first started taking lessons and joined the Forest Lake Junior High marching band in 2007. Having not started band until 8th grade, a persistent feeling of being in over my head helped to drive my education and help me overcome challenging situations throughout my career. I first started teaching marching band with the Forest Lake junior high band in 2010 as a junior in high school. Read More

I began teaching private lessons full time recently and have my own home studio for in-person and online Skype lessons. I always felt my passion was to become a teacher and I also have self-published my own drum rudiment book called "Learning Rudiments". I am a serious student of the drums as I regularly take online lessons, watch practice videos, and listen to drum teaching podcasts to pick up the latest advice. Read More

I've been blessed to have a very diverse variety of music and teaching job experiences. I began teaching private lessons as a Middle School Music Mentor with the Lied Center for Performing arts for LPS students my first year of University. Since then, I've also worked as a Visual and Music Tech for Lincoln High School's marching band, judged the Links Marching Band Contest, worked as a substitute Para Educator in Special Education in the middle, high school, and vocational school settings, and was the Music Director for the 2014 Penguin Project production of Annie Jr., the winner of a Mayor's Arts Award for that year. For beginning trumpet students, I start with a combination of Clark and Arbank Technical studies for a formal structure. A majority of the technical teaching I do is based on these two methods. I also implement techniques from the Sheridan and Pilafian Breathing Gym to establish the fundamental mechanics of generating sound. For all students, regardless of ability, lessons will have some foundation in the breath and the mechanics of breathing. Read More

I believe in practice and visualization. In addition to physical practice, watching and hearing someone perform something is more than beneficial to learning and really getting those difficult concepts. It’s very important to list out what works best for each person. Some people are visual while others are audio focused while some are both. Many students move faster than others. A key component is to keep good notes and track what was easy and what was difficult. Read More
