I use piano adventures for most students starting off. With my more advanced students I use "The Russian School of Piano." Once the student is at an appropriate level, I then take them out of the books completely. At this time, we work on more difficult pieces in different time periods. Most students start playing Bach's music at first. This is to help the technique. I earned my Bachelor of Music Education from Towson University and have spent years working with musicians both inside and outside the classroom. I've taught students from elementary school through adulthood and served as the Head Brass Instructor for the Calvert Hall Competition Marching Band for nearly a decade. During that time, I've worked with students in a program that has earned 5 National Championships and 16 State Championships. I'm also an active performer with ensembles including the Endless Mountain Music Festival Orchestra and Quintet, Reisterstown Jazz Band, and Bachelor Boys Band, along with other ensembles throughout the Mid-Atlantic. I believe fundamental techniques are super important for students to advance their music. I also pay attention to what students are interested in.
