My way of working with a student is completely personalized. Each person is a unique and independent universe. After determining what motivates the student to learn an instrument and also knowing their profile and their relationship with music prior to this, I develop a daily, weekly and monthly plan with the same student, I establish the level of commitment that the student Is going to put in the training and project, along with him, some goal or objective attainable according to his commitment. I like to see where the student is at level wise and take it from there. Example : if the student has never played before, we will start with how to hold the sticks. If there at level three but haven't touched 16th note triplets and go from there. If there trying to play Rush 2112 but are having trouble with certain parts - we will dissect it and concentrate on problem areas. Read More

I am an elementary music instructor who specializes in brass instruments. I want to teach motivated students who have a passion of wanting to get better on their instrument. I am extremely excited to work with the students and love to see the progress that is made from my teachings and the student's hard work. In 2013, I graduated from Grambling State University and I am currently working on my master's degree at the University of Florida. Read More

I've been playing the piano for 15 years as a church accompanist. I currently perform as a church accompanist at a church in Little Rock for 6 years. During summer 2012, I held a piano teaching internship at Rhythm 88 Music School in Little Rock, Arkansas. I performed at Carnegie Weill Hall with my friend, cellist Kyung-min Kang 2013 summer. The cellist won 3rd place in the American Protege Competition. The winners recital was held during July 2013 at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Read More

I start my beginning students off with learning to read music notation simply from a rudiment sheet and moving into a cd play a long book with basic drum rhythms and song structure. For intermediate to advance students, I typically start with Stick Control for the snare drummer by George Stone. For basic drum set we start with "The Rhythm Book" covering all drum set styles. If the student is interested in a specific genre and style of playing, we tend to travel down that road of goals they have set for themselves. Read More

I am full of energy and love learning as much as I can, but I also understand that full and in depth skill requires time and a certain level of patience and consistency. I relay this to students by repetition (specifically of principles), though I keep it fun and exciting by varying the application. Once the principle is fully grasped, we move on. I also give light, yet fun x22homeworkx22 assignments to keep the student engaged and thinking about music outside of the lesson. Read More

I have been band director in the public school system for over 20 years and an adjunct professor in college for several years. Since 1993, I have been teaching private lessons to low brass students ranging from grade 5 through college. Students under my director have been successful in District, All-Region, All-Area, All-State and Texas UIL competitions. I have many years working with students from all backgrounds and ability levels. In addition to teaching, I also compose/arrange music with several compositions being used for the Texas All-State Jazz auditions. Read More
