I have been lucky enough to have been studying music since I was very little, and so it's now my drive and motivation to share all the lessons, insights, and wonders I've learned from studying a wide variety of instruments and types of music. I'm in my final year of a Music Education degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Music Technology minor. I've been trained as a singer (both as an adult Baritone as well as a soloist Boy Soprano) and as a Saxophonist (all varieties) formally, and a Drum Corps International educated brass player. Instruments: Piano Guitar Bass Guitar Keyboard Electric Guitar Acoustic Guitar
I have taken private guitar and piano lessons since 2003 and have implemented a lot of the styles I was exposed to in the teaching that I have done since 2017. I typically travel to my students' homes, but I have space to teach in my apartment studio as well. Music is one of the greatest gifts we are able to hold in this life and I want to make sure that each one of my students gets to experience it in the deep and meaningful ways that I have. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I prefer to instruct out of the James Bastien method books for the student's main lesson assignments. However, I also encourage students to bring and play out of books that inspire and motivate them individually. This keeps lessons lighthearted and keeps the student interested in the next lesson in my experience. I set realistic weekly and monthly goals for my students so I'm able to gauge how the student has performed, as well as how they should be instructed going forward. Read More
Instruments: Drums Mallet Percussion Orchestral Percussion
As technology and the nature of music is always changing and evolving, a large part of my teaching involves work with a metronome, the encouragement of playing along with recordings(even for orchestral excerpts), and transcription. I strongly encourage drum set students to find songs they like to learn by ear as well as learn to notate them. Regular practice routines, weekly goals, long term goals, and consistent metronome usage will all provide a strong framework for any student. Read More

I believe in practice and visualization. In addition to physical practice, watching and hearing someone perform something is more than beneficial to learning and really getting those difficult concepts. It’s very important to list out what works best for each person. Some people are visual while others are audio focused while some are both. Many students move faster than others. A key component is to keep good notes and track what was easy and what was difficult. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Music
I have worked with beginner students, looking to learn more about their voice and what it can do. I have worked with students that are at the height of the professional singing career and I have helped them refine and nuance their audition package. I have helped singers work on their own musical compositions for an upcoming indie/pop/and/or RB album release. My job is to help you reach your goals, and I'm so excited to listen to your voice grow!" Read More

Before entering graduate school, I served as a band director in Illinois public schools for two years. During that time, I taught a 4th grade recorder class, 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 7th/8th grade band, and high school band. During graduate school I was the instructor of horn for the Western Illinois University Summer Music Institute, and I have taught private horn lessons to a variety of undergraduate music students as a part of my graduate teaching assistantship at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
