I always want my students to have a very positive experience taking lessons and never to feel as if there is too much pressure put on them. Every student is different so I don't have a specific teaching formula. I always ensure that the student is moving at a comfortable pace for them while still being challenged and learning new things. I am always quick to acknowledge every small bit of progress that they make and focus on the positives rather than the negatives. Read More

My philosophy is creating a solid musical foundation for students to deepen their understanding of singing and playing the piano. I always try my best to convey the basic musical knowledge to students, helping students develop their ability to recognize, read, listen, response, notate, understand rhythmic patterns and experiences in different musical cultures. Some of the main areas which students would have an opportunity to learn in general music class are Rhythm, Pitch, Texture/Harmony, and Form. Read More

I grew up with a Pianist and Music Theory Professor as a mother; I learned to read music at the same time as I learned to read English. Music has never lost that early childhood sense of wonder for me, and so it's my primary goal to share that with others. More importantly, I want to help people of all ages develop their own musical voice and directive. So my teaching style is a combination of 2 things: Teaching a student how to practice (that is, improve their fundamental skill set towards mastery of an instrument) their instrument, and helping the student develop their musical identity and interests. Instruments: Voice
The voice is the most personal of instruments and that is what I love about it! Singing takes courage but it creates beautiful connections between people and cultures. In my teaching I seek to connect with students and share with them a love of music to last throughout their lifetime. I am a classically trained vocalist and have been involved in many audition vocal competitions, choirs, and community musical theater. Read More

Hello! My name is Nic, and I'd like to be your student's next piano instructor! I'm a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Huskers!), although I hail from Minnesota originally. Over the last several years, I've been instructing students on piano and performing at outside engagements for clients. Additionally, I'm a Piano Associate at Von Maur who performs regularly throughout the week and weekends. Music has been such a big part of my life since I could first recall, and teaching others to play piano is a way for me to spread this passion outside of myself. Read More

I have recently relocated to the Hartford area from Rochester, NY, where I was pursuing my DMA at the Eastman School of Music. Previously, I earned degrees at the University of Miami and Ithaca College. I have also been able to accumulate extensive professional experience, playing primarily in symphony orchestras and pit orchestras for musicals. I am lucky to have shared the stage with some of the world's greatest musicians and to have played a lot of amazing music. Read More
