Instruments: Guitar
My teaching style is based primarily on theory and practice. While every student can and will progress according to their needs, I think its important to start with basics, like how to properly hold and play the instrument. Once the basics are down, well usually transition towards learning more music theory, like scales and chord structures, and how to build a song from the ground up. Once someone is passed the beginning stages, lessons will generally transform into a much more personalized experience. Read More

I don't have just ONE method...because every student has different likes, and different goals, they need personalized lessons. Some enjoy music theory, others prefer to just learn a more basic approach. Since I learned formally (in school/lessons) and informally (by ear, self-taught and playing onstage), I can give students whichever method suits their goals, with as much or as little theory as they are comfortable with. I specialize in playing by ear, which is essential for students who want to play onstage or make music with others, without worrying about sheet music. Read More

My personal influence on the student's repertoire depends on the student and their goals. I enjoy working closely with my students to discover the kind of music they like and any specific songs they want to learn. I encourage students to always be thinking of new pieces and to bring them in to work on. I love teaching people the music that most interests them, and I prepare my students for whatever venues and performances that they choose to play, always encouraging them to get out and show off their talents. As a kinesthetic learner, I have always had a tendency of using colors, rhymes, similarities, acronyms among other things to ease my learning ability of which I have found myself using a similar method when explaining a concept to one of my students. Setting short and long term goals allow for me and the student to be enthusiastic to learn and eager to step into our next lesson. Keeping an open conversation and weekly challenges to keep the student motivated and have something to look forward to. Read More

Instruments: Clarinet
Teaching clarinet and piano has been the most rewarding part of my musical journey. I started by teaching masterclasses to high school students in 2017, and from there I began teaching lessons in the Bryan/College Station area. I have taught middle school and high school level students ranging from beginners to advanced level students. Outside of music, I am also a teacher at a daycare, so I work with small children on a daily basis! Read More

I believe that making progress in an enjoyable way is what keeps people most motivated, and I do my best to make that happen. While students will find that their progress is influenced by their practice habits, it's also my goal to make clear what effective practice looks like, what kinds of questions they might ask to figure things out, and how to be patient with themselves. In short, my job as a teacher is to help students become more effective at figuring things out, while paying attention to their level of motivation/enjoyment. Read More
