Playing duets and tunes form the basis of lessons. You will learn scales and chords, rhythm, tone and being in tune. I like to include a bit of playing without reading music, depending on what your inclination is. For more advanced flutists, we will play Bach, Mozart, Telemann, Quantz (a flutist!) and whatever music you like and bring to the lesson. I sometimes use play alongs so we can play with piano or orchestra. Read More

I have been teaching for 20 years, with my own business for 10 years. My teaching style is very student centered. This allows me to focus on their unique abilities and interests while building a solid musical foundation. Individualized teaching is my passion. I adapt my teaching style to each students' learning style and then teach them how to express themselves individually through music. I still use traditional methods to build good technique and practice habits, but allow my students to bring their own interests' into our lessons. Read More

Music is my gift. I am blessed with a natural ability which I have dedicated my life to learn, cultivate and nurture. To share this through teaching is rewarding. I teach students of all ages and levels. We have two recitals per year, which are unique and fun because of our wide variety of instruments and our group songs. My introductory lesson is full of information to build a foundation on which further knowledge can stand. Read More

Because each student progresses at his or her own pace, I am extremely patient and encouraging in each lessonmusic should be a relaxing, fun pastime free of anxiety and stress about progressing overly rapidly. We will work hard, but we will remember the underlying joy that comes from making music! Therefore, each lesson will target areas of improvement in each student's playing, while positively reinforcing each student's success as we progress each week. Read More

I simply want my students to come into their first lesson wanting to learn more about their instrument and music. I want them to leave their final lesson feeling the same way, but at a more advanced level than when they first arrived. They don't need to be professional level when they leave, but I want them to feel as though they learned some valuable things as my student and want to either continue learning elsewhere or feel content about what they have learned and are ready to move on to other things. I'm a pssionate musician and music teacher. I enjoy sharing my passion with students. I spend much of my time composing and teaching. I graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 2012 with a major in English and a heavy emphasis on music. I have studied African drumming, electronic music, classical music and jazz. I am well versed in hip hop as well. I have stayed tru to my roots and focused on mostly acoustic music, but my range transfers over to electric as well. Read More
